# Wholesale tuxedo buying guide for formalwear retailers

A practical guide for shops, wedding stores and rental companies planning a tuxedo order. It covers styles, fabrics, sizes, colour mix and the two ways to buy from our Istanbul factory.

## What should a store look at before buying tuxedos wholesale?

Start with your customer and your channel, then choose lapel, fabric, sizes and colours to match. A rental company needs a few classic models in deep size runs that survive many cleanings. A wedding store selling to grooms needs more variety, including statement pieces. An importer supplying several shops needs a balanced mix that sells across different cities.

Most buyers who contact us already know their market. The questions that cost money when they are answered late are about sizing, colour ratio and fabric durability. This guide goes through each one in the order we discuss them with new buyers.

## Which lapel type sells best: shawl, peak or notch?

Shawl lapel is the strongest seller in ceremony and wedding tuxedos, peak lapel is the classic black-tie choice, and notch lapel suits buyers who want a tuxedo that also works as a dinner suit. In our own catalog, most tuxedo models are shawl lapel.

| Lapel | Look | Best for | Notes for buyers |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shawl | Rounded, continuous curve, usually satin faced | Weddings, galas, ceremony styles | Works with jacquard, velvet and embellished fabrics |
| Peak | Points upward toward the shoulder | Black tie, formal events, double-breasted styles | Reads more traditional and structured |
| Notch | Standard suit lapel with a step | Budget formal, prom, dinner suits | Easiest to sell as "smart" rather than strict black tie |

A simple rule: if you sell mainly to grooms and event guests, lead with shawl. If your customers include corporate events and older buyers, keep a peak lapel black tuxedo in the range.

## Ceremony styles or classic black?

Classic black is your base stock, and ceremony styles are where you make your margin and your shop window. Every formalwear store needs a black tuxedo with a satin lapel in a full size run. That model sells all year and is the safest rental piece.

Ceremony styles are the tuxedos customers come in to look at:

- **Jacquard tuxedos** with woven patterns in navy, black, bronze, charcoal or forest green. They look rich in photos and are less fragile than sequin.
- **Velvet tuxedos** in burgundy, emerald, navy, red or sage green. Strong for winter weddings and evening events.
- **Sequin and glitter tuxedos** in silver, copper, champagne gold or black. Popular for stage, parties and grooms who want to stand out.
- **Rhinestone and embellished tuxedos**, including shoulder details and ombre crystal designs. These are a big part of demand from Middle East, North Africa and some Balkan and Central Asian markets.

You can see current models on the [tuxedos category page](/mens-suit-manufacturing/tuxedos) and in our full collections.

## Do I need dinner jackets in ivory or white?

Yes, if you sell for summer weddings, destination events or hot climates. An ivory or white shawl lapel dinner jacket worn with black trousers is a standard request from buyers in the Gulf, North Africa, West Africa and southern Europe. We make plain ivory versions, satin trimmed versions and embellished ones with rhinestone or shoulder details.

For a first order, one or two ivory models is usually enough. They sell in a shorter season than black, so keep the quantity smaller and reorder if they move.

## Which tuxedo fabrics should a retailer choose?

For most formalwear stock, a good wool blend gives the best balance of drape, comfort and price. Our tuxedos are mainly wool blend, jacquard wool blend, satin trimmed wool blend, velvet, and sequin or embellished fabrics, all with a 100% viscose lining that breathes better than polyester.

- **Wool blend:** the standard choice for black and navy tuxedos. Holds a press, recovers from creasing, and is the best option for rental.
- **Jacquard wool blend:** pattern is woven into the cloth, so it does not wear off. Good for ceremony styles that will be worn more than once.
- **Velvet:** strong visual impact, but it marks and crushes if stored badly. Hang it, do not fold it tightly.
- **Sequin and rhinestone:** best for sale rather than rental. They need careful handling and specialist cleaning.

If you want more detail on fibre content and weights, read our [suit fabric guide](/guides/suit-fabric-guide).

## What do rental companies need to check?

Rental tuxedos need durable fabric, strong construction at stress points and a size run deep enough to cover repeat bookings. A rental jacket may be worn and cleaned many times in one season, so the questions are different from retail.

- Choose plain black or navy wool blend for the core rental fleet. Keep embellished pieces for sale or premium rental.
- Check that buttons are sewn firmly and that satin lapel facing is cleanly attached.
- Ask for extra seam allowance in trousers so you can let them out or take them in between customers.
- Consider unhemmed trousers, so your tailor can adjust the length for each renter.
- Plan more pieces in the middle sizes, because those are booked most often.

## How should I plan sizes and colours per market?

Cover EU sizes 46 to 56 at minimum, and add 58 to 60 if your customers are larger. Our stock tuxedo lots usually come in EU sizes 46-48-50-52-54-56-58, one piece per size, seven pieces per lot. That gives a shop one of every size to sell from and reorder against.

For colour, start with what you know sells locally and add a few ceremony pieces to test. As general guidance from what we see in buyer orders:

- **Western Europe and UK:** black and navy first, then velvet in burgundy or green for winter.
- **Balkans, Romania, Moldova:** black and navy plus jacquard and ceremony styles for weddings.
- **Middle East and Gulf:** black, ivory and embellished styles, with rhinestone details in demand.
- **West and Central Africa:** bold colours, jacquard, sequin and embellished tuxedos sell well alongside black.
- **Central Asia and Caucasus:** black, navy and jacquard patterns, plus ivory for summer weddings.
- **USA and Canada:** black and navy dominate, with demand for larger sizes.

These are tendencies, not rules. Your own sales history is always the better guide. Our [size runs and lot planning guide](/guides/suit-size-runs-and-lot-planning) explains how to adjust ratios.

## Should I order from stock lots or custom production?

Buy from stock lots when you want to test models fast with a small commitment, and order made to order when you want your own label, fabric or fit. Many buyers do both: stock lots for ceremony styles and custom production for their core black tuxedo.

| | Stock lots | Made to order |
|---|---|---|
| Design | Our catalog models | Your spec or our model adjusted |
| Quantity | One lot per model (6-7 pieces) | From 100 units per style |
| Branding | Our standard labels | Your labels, lining, buttons, packaging |
| Timing | Ships once your order is confirmed and packed | Typically 12-15 days production, depending on quantity, model and fabric |

## How does ordering a tuxedo lot work?

Send us the model codes you like, the quantity of lots, and your destination country. We confirm stock, price and shipping options, then pack and ship by air or sea, either door to door or to your forwarder. For custom orders we confirm fabric, fit and branding first, then quote price and lead time per model and quantity. The full process is on our [how to order](/how-to-order) page.

When you are ready, send us your list on WhatsApp or Telegram through the [contact page](/contact) and we will prepare a wholesale quote. We reply within 24 hours on business days.

## FAQ

### What is the minimum tuxedo order?

From stock, the minimum is one lot of one model, usually 7 pieces in EU sizes 46 to 58. For made to order under your own brand, the minimum is 100 units per style.

### Can I mix models and colours in one order?

Yes. You can combine lots of different tuxedo models, dinner jackets and suits in one shipment. Each lot is one model in one colour across the size run.

### Are your tuxedos suitable for rental?

Our wool blend and jacquard tuxedos are a good fit for rental fleets. Sequin and rhinestone models are better for sale or premium rental, as they need careful cleaning and handling.

### Do you sell single tuxedos to grooms?

No. We work with businesses only, and the smallest order is one lot. If you are a groom, a local formalwear store or rental shop that stocks Turkish tuxedos is the right place to buy.

### Can I get tuxedos with my own label?

Yes, through our private label service. We add your neck labels, care labels, lining, buttons and packaging from 100 units per style.
