Why European buyers source suits from Turkey

European retailers source suits from Turkey for three practical reasons: the factory is close, production is fast, and minimums are small enough for mid-sized brands. A truck from Istanbul reaches most of Europe by road, and our production typically takes 12-15 days depending on quantity, model and fabric availability.

Mark Morente is a men's suit manufacturer with more than 20 years of production, 1000+ suits per day of capacity, ISO 9001 certified production and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 fabrics. Pattern making is done in-house with CAD, and quality is checked at every step.

We sell to businesses only: menswear retailers, boutique chains, department stores, online brands, wedding and formalwear shops, rental companies and corporate buyers.

How ordering works

European buyers either buy from stock in lots or produce under their own label. Many start with stock to test a model, then switch to private label.

  • Stock lots. Ready catalog models in size-run lots, for example EU sizes 46-48-50-52-54-56, 6 suits per lot. Lots vary by model.
  • Private label and OEM. From 100 units per style. You choose fabric, colour, fit, lining, buttons, labels and packaging, or send us your own tech pack.

Every order is quoted individually, with price and lead time per model and quantity. Details are on our private label suits and how to order pages.

Duties and paperwork: EU, UK and the rest of Europe

For EU buyers, the EU-Türkiye Customs Union means industrial goods such as suits move with zero customs duties when accompanied by an A.TR movement certificate. For UK buyers, the UK-Turkey trade agreement gives preferential tariffs if the goods meet its rules of origin. Your customs broker should confirm the details for your product code before the first shipment.

EU-Türkiye Customs Union and the A.TR

The customs union covers industrial products. The European Commission states that goods produced in, or released into free circulation in, the customs union can circulate in its territory with zero duties and zero quotas, as long as they travel with an A.TR movement certificate. The A.TR proves customs status, not origin. You still pay import VAT in your country.

UK-Turkey trade agreement

The UK and Turkey have had a trade agreement in effect since the end of the Brexit transition period. According to GOV.UK, goods must meet the UK-Turkey preferential rules of origin to get the preferential tariff. If they do not, they can still be imported at the standard tariff. For garments, the product-specific rule can depend on where the fabric was made, so tell us your requirements and let your broker confirm before you order.

Textile labelling in the EU

EU Regulation 1007/2011 requires a fibre composition label using the regulated fibre names, in the official language or languages of the country where the suit is sold. Suits sold in Belgium may need French, Dutch and German, for example. Send us your label text and we sew it in during production. Under private label, your brand name, size and care labels go in at the same time.

Country notes

Each European market buys a little differently. These are the patterns we see most.

  • United Kingdom. Business suits in navy and grey, wedding suits for grooms and groomsmen, and formalwear for hire companies. UK chest sizing is common, so agree the size conversion up front. Our size guide helps.
  • Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Belgium. Modern fits, quality wool blends, quiet colours. Buyers here ask detailed questions about fabric composition and certificates, and we answer them before production.
  • France. Slim cuts, ceremony suits, and tuxedos for weddings and events.
  • Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway. Slim and modern fits in grey, blue and earth tones, mid to heavier weights for winter.
  • Romania, Greece. Strong wedding season demand, with 3-piece suits and tuxedos selling well.
  • Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Moldova. Wedding and ceremony suits are a big share of orders. Many buyers collect by truck or use a regional forwarder.

Shipping to Europe

Road freight is the usual route for European orders. A full or part truckload goes from Istanbul to your warehouse, and smaller orders travel as groupage with other cargo. Air freight suits urgent restocks and samples. Sea freight is an option for large orders to Northern Europe and the UK.

We deliver door-to-door or to your forwarder. We quote shipping per destination and do not promise fixed transit days, because routes and border times change. See our shipping page and the guide on importing suits from Turkey to Europe.

Frequently asked questions

Do suits from Turkey pay customs duty in the EU?

Suits are industrial goods covered by the EU-Türkiye Customs Union, which applies zero customs duties when the goods travel with an A.TR movement certificate. Import VAT still applies. Ask your customs broker to confirm for your commodity code.

What about duty for UK buyers?

The UK-Turkey trade agreement gives preferential tariffs to goods that meet its rules of origin. Goods that do not qualify pay the standard UK tariff. Your broker should check this before the first shipment.

Can you sew our labels in the local language?

Yes. Send us your fibre composition, care and brand label text in the languages you need, and we add them during production.

What is the minimum order for European retailers?

One lot from stock, for example 6 suits of one model in a size run. Private label starts at 100 units per style.

How do you ship to Europe?

Mostly by truck, as full loads or groupage. Air for urgent orders and samples, sea for some large orders. We quote per destination.
